Using Our "Song Uploader"

1. Enter your name ("Registrar") and email address in top 2 white boxes.

2. Use the grey boxes (asking for payment info) only if you used a DIFFERENT name or email address to make your payment (otherwise leave them blank).

3. For EACH song (up to 4 total):
(a) Enter its TITLE, then click "BROWSE" button on right (or 'choose-file'),
(b) Find the song file on your computer and double-click it.
       (if it's an audio file and you can HEAR lyrics, do NOT send separate lyrics)

4. Then click the yellow UPLOAD button and wait for the screen to change to
"Success" (BE PATIENT -- audio files can take 5-10 minutes!)

Why We Need Your Song Files
First, we do not use or show your song files to ANYONE. We just securely store them because, under copyright law, songs must be in "physical form" before copyright protection can be established. And without copies of your actual songs we cannot (a) establish they are in "physical form," nor (b) provide evidence of their CONTENT should a copyright dispute arise!

CD – WAV – AIF files:

                                1. WAV or AIF files: If you are trying to send WAV or AIF files, click here and read #4

                                2. CD files: You cannot send songs directly from a CD (ending with .cda)

.CDA FILES MUST BE CONVERTED ("RIPPED") FIRST!

↓ Why? • Files ending in .cda contain NO music or words.
• They only "point" to audio files hidden on the CD.
• "Ripping" converts those hidden files! ↓

Instructions for Converting (Ripping) .cda Files
1. Insert CD into computer.
2. If popup window appears, just click "Rip from CD" and skip to #8 below.

3. If no window appears, open Windows Media Player.
4. Click "Rip" tab (toward top of screen).
5. Check boxes of songs to be converted.
6. Click "Start Rip" button.
7. Songs are converted when "ripped to library" appears by titles.

8. They should now be in .wma or .mp3 format and ready for uploading!
To insert them into the form above, use the "browse" button to find
the song titles in your "Music" folder (sometimes on your desktop).

What Formats to Use

Keep in mind that, whichever formats you use, if you expect to have evidence of copyright for your ENTIRE song, you need to send your ENTIRE song — meaning, words AND music (if your song includes both). If you send ONLY lyrics, we will have no evidence for your music, and vice versa!

So if your song has both words and music, the easiest way to send both is by way of an audio file, CD or sheet music (and if your audio file or CD has both words and music in it, you do NOT need to send lyrics separately).

• The best audio files to use are either .mp3, .wma or .m4a files.
• For lyrics only and other text, use any txt format (.doc, .txt, .rtf, .docx, .wps, etc.)
• If you scan your material, any graphics format is ok (.jpg, .gif, .tif, .pdf, etc.)
• Do NOT use .cda, .wav*, .aif*, video (.mov, .wmv), .wpl or .itl files
